You retain full intellectual property ownership of every image you submit. The Studio Mentor does not claim, license, or acquire any rights to your artwork — ever.
- 100% Private. Submissions are processed through encrypted, secure pathways solely to generate your private studio report. Never stored publicly, never shared with third parties.
- Never used for training. Your artwork is never used to train, fine-tune, or improve any public generative art model — not ours, not anyone else's.
- Private archive only. Images are retained solely in your password-protected Studio Portfolio for Revision Mode. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
Will my abstract or primitive art be judged by classical realism rules?
Absolutely not. By selecting your Target Style (Abstract, Naive/Primitive, Impressionism, etc.) you set the grading rubric. If you select Naive Art, the Studio Mentor evaluates your work on emotional honesty, textural rhythm, and compositional balance — not anatomical perspective or classical lighting rules.
How can I trust the feedback if my studio photography has poor lighting?
We built a Colour Accuracy Calibrator to solve this. Drop a standard piece of pure white printer paper into the corner of your photo frame when you photograph your artwork. The platform locates that white reference, calculates the warm or cool cast of your room's lightbulb, and subtracts it — evaluating your actual paint choices, not your studio lighting. What if I take months to finish a single oil painting?
This is exactly what Revision Mode is designed for. Submit your canvas at major milestones — underpainting, blocking-in, final details. When you tick "This is a revision," the platform pulls your previous critique and instructs the Studio Mentor to explicitly track what improved, what didn't land, and what to focus on next.
Can I get feedback on just one problem area without the whole painting being judged?
Yes — this is exactly what Isolated Section Spotlight mode is for. Switch the Select Critique Scope toggle at the top of the form, crop your image tightly around the area you're unsure of, and describe your specific uncertainty. The Studio Mentor will not evaluate global composition or penalise incompleteness — it focuses its full attention on the local mechanics of that crop.
Why do you charge £3.99 per critique?
Processing a high-resolution canvas — extracting colour data, generating cropped annotations, running multi-stage analysis — has real infrastructure costs. The £3.99 covers those costs, keeps the platform completely ad-free, and blocks automated abuse. It also ensures every critique receives the computational attention it deserves.
Does the platform have a history? How long has it been running?
The Studio Mentor was built from scratch as a specialist platform — not a generic chatbot wrapper. It was designed around the specific challenge of giving practising traditional artists access to academic-quality critique without the cost, geography, or schedule constraints of art school. The platform is under continuous development, with new features and improvements added regularly based on feedback from the artist community.
